Acceptable recycling items include:

Aluminum cans Aluminum foil & trays rinsed and cleaned Metal food & beverage cans Clear & colored glass Plastic bottles with recyclable stamp (#1 to #7) Wide mouth plastic containers

Newspapers Mixed paper Junk mail Magazines Catalogs Empty aerosol cans Cardboard boxes - broken down and flattened no bigger than 3X3 feet

All recyclable materials should be rinsed (if applicable)

Unacceptable recycling items:

Plastic bags Plastic food trays and cups, Clam-shell containers Light bulbs Glassware Ceramics Pots and pans

Styrofoam cups Paper plates and napkins Batteries Plates, bowls and “To Go” food containers Pizza boxes

Single Stream Recycling Benefits You & the Planet!

1. Single stream recycling means less work for you. You will no longer have to separate all recyclable materials in your home.  It also saves space where you store your recyclables prior to pick-up.
2. Single stream recycling means that more of what people put out for recycling will actually get to the recycling plant rather than the landfill.  Previously, improperly sorted recyclable material was treated as garbage and not recycled.
   
   
3. One bin for all recyclables encourages you to recycle more qualified materials (see list above).  Where single stream recycling has been implemented it has been found that people recycle up to 50% more material.
